Your Journey to Wellness

Treatments & Cupping

Treatments

If you are a client in need of specific work, please think about the type of session that may best suit your needs.

For example, if you have extreme tension in the neck and shoulders, you may want to consider either a 75 or 90-minute session to allow sufficient time on those areas. Another option is to schedule a 60-minute session that focuses on the upper body. If you are a runner who needs to focus on your IT bands, quads, hamstrings, calves and lower body, ask for a customized session.

I want to ensure you get the most out of your massage and provide a realistic expectation of what can be accomplished in an hour. An hour for a full-body massage is more of an all-over tune-up and it is difficult to target or perform specific work on the entire body in that time. Please feel free to call or email me with questions to determine what type of session is right for you.

  • Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

  • Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

  • A result-oriented treatment that is specifically directed to resolve certain conditions. It is systematic therapeutic manipulation through applying fixed or movable pressure, friction, rubbing, stroking, pinching, tapping, kneading, or applying vibration to muscle and connective tissue. Sometimes performed on the whole body or just a targeted area.

  • A gentle meditative form of bodywork focussing on the bones of the head, spinal column, sacrum, and underlying tissues.  The main objective of this work is to find physical or metaphysical restrictions in these areas and use awareness and specifically designed techniques to release them.  This modality is useful in addressing but not limited to low back pain, headaches, TMJD, stress-related dysfunctions, emotional stress or trauma, arthritis, colic, inner ear issues, etc.

  • Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.

  • Myofascial Release is a very effective deep tissue, hands-on technique that works to address pain or discomfort coming from muscles and connective tissue.  Myofascial therapy is used to 'release' and rebalance the muscle and connective soft tissue system.

  • Based on a system of different zones and reflex areas on your feet and hands that correspond to different organs and zones of the body. Applying pressure to the feet or hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques to improve one’s health, improve circulation, and relieve tension.

  • Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

  • Energy work is based on the belief that everyone has a “life force”, and that the body needs to sustain its balance for optimum health. Anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it indicates that your life force has simply become unbalanced. I work directly with your energy field to restore balance and flow to your entire system. And once your energy field has been restored to full health, your body will follow.

Cupping

What is cupping therapy?

This therapy employs negative pressure, rather than tissue compression.  This therapy releases rigid soft tissue, drains excess fluids and toxins, loosens adhesions, lifts connective tissue, and brings blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles.

    • If you are experiencing insomnia, Cupping Therapy creates deep relaxation.

    • It releases toxins and lactic acid that are built up in your muscles.

    • Cupping Therapy is used to treat shoulder injuries and frozen shoulders.

    • Cupping Therapy breaks up cellulite and gives your legs, buttocks, stomach, and thighs a smooth appearance.

    • If you have digestive issues or are experiencing constipation, Cupping Therapy can be used to dredge and break apart the buildups in the intestines.

    • It also eliminates pimples, acne, and scars to bleach and eradicates wrinkles and edema.

    • The facial rejuvenation cupping technique relieves facial tension (i.e. TMJD, addresses sinus points) reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and keeps your face looking young.

    • If you are experiencing sciatica, it can specifically target this condition.

    • Biomagnetic Cupping can detox your body and relieve chronic pain due to injuries.

    • Cupping Therapy is one of the best massage techniques to relieve deep muscle pain.

  • The cup is positioned over the treatment and a vacuum is created by reducing the pressure inside the cup, therefore stretching the underlying tissues up into the cup.

  • These discolorations are not bruises.  The color and pattern of the marks depend on the level of stagnation in the area, and range from a bright red to dark purple, usually lasting 3 days to a week - sometimes longer if the person is very sick or sedentary. If there is no stagnation present, there will be only a pink marking which disappears in a few minutes to a couple of hours.  If the client receiving treatment sweats a lot on a daily basis - no marks may ever occur.  People who live/work/play in toxic environments (or were exposed to a heavy dose of toxic material) may consistently mark.  Sites, where there is old trauma or injury, may require multiple cupping treatments to remove all stagnation. You will find in follow-up treatments the marks will get progressively lighter as the pathogens are systemically removed from the body.

  • Face cupping is inexpensive, non-invasive, and serves as a safe alternative to surgery or chemical treatments. Facial cupping uses small, specially designed suction cups to lift and massage facial tissue. It is actually not a new therapy, women in Asia, Russia and Europe have been using negative pressure facial cupping for rejuvenation and maintenance for generations. There are many benefits:

    • Increases oxygen-rich blood circulation

    • Strengthens skin & connective tissues and stimulates fibroblast cells responsible for collagen and elasticity production

    • Visibly reduces fine lines and deeper wrinkles

    • Tones chin, jawline, neck & décolletage

    • Reduce scars, excess oil & pore size

    • Relaxes facial muscle tension & tightness

For best results, facial cupping is recommended two times a week until the desired effect, then one to two times monthly thereafter for maintenance.  I also prescribe and provide clients with instructions for self-massage and facial exercises for optimal results in the duration of these treatments.
